Musings of a Modest Spy-fellow -
P.C. Swanepoel
This book is just a collection of the things the writer
has seen or experienced or heard or read about during a relatively long life.
Mostly it’s about himself and his own
family and people, the Afrikaners. (Very grudgingly he did devote a chapter to
his wife’s English ancestors.)
It needs to be explained why the book was written in English and not in his
home language. It started with a piece he wrote at the request of a lady in
England about his late father’s illegal medical practice. Obviously this was in
English. She suggested further writing and so the thing grew until eventually
it has taken it’s present form.
