A Biblical view of the cosmos – The earth is stationary - Dr Willie Marais

It has been nearly 500 years since the claim of Copernicus that the sun is stationary and at the centre of our universe. Today, astronomers and scientists alike reject this claim, for they proclaim to peer deep into space using modern telescopes revealing many other “suns” or stars, greater in size than our sun and organized in other star systems.

Unfortunately, Copernicus’ claim also led to the logical conclusion that the earth must be moving or how else would the seasons come about? It is lamentable that modern science chose to reject Copernicus’ claim about the sun, but still chooses to believe the unproven conclusion that the earth must be moving. In this book, Dr. Willie Marais, well-known theologian and scholar of the Word of God, takes us on a journey through the Bible, revealing the Bible’s view of the cosmos, and states that the Bible’s account of the creation and state of the cosmos must be trusted unless it can be proven wrong beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Interestingly enough, the earth’s movement has never been proven scientifically beyond a shadow of a doubt. Statements from companies responsible for GPS satellites that their calculations fail unless the earth is made stationary, should be alarming to anyone that believes the earth is moving.

Dr. Marais proves that the Bible’s view of the cosmos is still correct since it is not the work of man, but the inspired Word of God who cannot lie or err, and warns that rejecting the Bible’s account of the cosmos, may open dangerous doors to rejecting other doctrines of the Bible as well.

Jesus Himself said in John 3:12 “If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?”
